The new Senate bill makes improvements to the Medicare program by creating a new annual wellness benefit, providing free preventive benefits, and—most notably for AARP members—reducing drug costs for seniors who fall into the dreaded Medicare doughnut hole, a costly gap in prescription drug coverage.
AARP Press Release, , 11/25/2009

The Nevada Alliance for Retired Americans congratulates Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for putting together a strong health care reform bill. The proposed legislation would make great strides in helping retirees in Nevada and all across the country better afford to see a doctor or get a prescription filled.”

U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle to eliminate Social Security Program

Message from David Jones, Chairman.

“With so many Nevada seniors struggling to afford medication, food, and other essential needs, the idea of eliminating Social Security—a program that for many seniors is their only lifeline—makes no sense. Yet this is exactly what Sharron Angle wants to do. Instead of standing up for seniors, her radical agenda includes leaving hundreds of thousands of seniors by the wayside in the name of smaller government. Senator Reid, however, has fought tooth and nail to protect Social Security. Now is not the time to pull our senior senator from a fight in which several rounds still remain.”
